RACE #8 - SPALTI GETS FIRST EVER CUP LITES WIN
By: cuplites.com
Darin Spalti, of Lake View, NY, driving his Mantelli Trailer Sales sponsored Car #2, made a late race pass around Taylor Holdaway and then held on dispite fading brakes to win the 35 lap feature, at the Mosport Speedway. Spalti, who is a former Cup Lites driver and more recently 2005 Crew Chief of the Year, is now subbing for an injured Dave Whittaker (2005 Cup Lites Champion).
Spalti spent much of the race chasing the #41 of Holdaway, who admitted this was his favorite track because of his experience here in Karts, but a late caution gave the trio of Spalti, Wylie, and Tybor a chance to catch up and take their shot at the 17 year old. One at a time, the three were able to shuffle Holdaway back a position to fourth. The pack of four then pulled away from the rest of the field.
At the checkered, the four were nose to tail with less than a car length between them. The #00 of Kreig Heroth rounded out the top five.
For Spalti it marks his first ever Cup Lites feature win and moves him back into the top 5 in points, just two points out of fourth and six points out of third.

RACE #7 - TYBOR CAPTURES THRILLER AT HOLLAND
By: Hollandspeedway.com
Dan Tybor, of Darien, NY led from the pole in his Skyline RV Chevy in the Cup Lites Series race, but it was anything but an easy run. Tybor held off a mid-race challenge by Darin Spalti, who took himself out of contention with a lap 28 slide into the infield grass in turn 1. Dave Bittner then took on the pursuit of Tybor, chasing down the leader with less than ten laps remaining, then engaging in a furious side-by-side battle over the final four laps. Bittner actually led by a 1/2 car length at the white flag, but Tybor went all out on the final circuit to re-take the lead off the fourth turn, and nip Bittner by less than 6 inches for the win. Nelson Rung was just a couple of car lengths back in third, with Scott Wylie in fourth, and Dan's brother Dennis Tybor completing the top five. Only one early race caution flag slowed the proceedings.

RACE #5 - DEBBIE GRAFF MEMORIAL 100
By: Hollandspeedway.com
Past Cup Lites Series champion Shane Riffel took advantage of an off-weekend on his 2006 Hooters Pro Cup schedule to drive back to his native Western New York area from his current Concord, NC residence, and despite having to move up from the rear of the field twice after involvement in on-track incidents, took the lead with just 7 laps remaining to capture the big win in the Debbie Graff Memorial 100 for the Cup Lites at Holland Speedway on Saturday evening.
Over the first half of the Debbie Graff Memorial race, past Cup Lites champs Dennis Tybor and Scott Wylie dominated the field, easily moving out into the top two slots with every restart green flag. Jeff Moorhouse, who had started dead last on the grid worked his way forward and joined Tybor and Wylie for the leadership tussle by lap 67. Moorhouse slipped by Wylie for second on lap 70, and began putting steady pressure on Tybor for the top slot.
However, over the last ten laps, some very unexpected twists changed the complexion of the race. On the 91st circuit, Moorhouse attempted a hammer down inside move through turns three and four, became loose, and bounced off of Tybor, sliding through the infield grass. This gave Wylie a run at Tybor, as he attempted to race by to the inside - they raced side-by-side for two laps before making serious contact with one another down the back chute. Wylie spun, while Tybor was sent to the rear of the field for his involvement.
While all this was going on, Shane Riffel was making his comeback drive through the field. After starting 19th, Riffel brought out the yellow flag with a spin on lap 6, then was involved in another bump and spin on lap 44, which again forced a rear of the field restart. Riffel was persistent in working his Thule Auto Chevy back through the field, surfacing in the top five on a lap 86 re-start, then maneuvering by Kreig Heroth for fourth a lap later. When the trio ahead of him had their late race issues, Riffel was on the spot to make something happen and take over the lead. At the checkers, Riffel held a five car length advantage over Nelson Rung, who himself had to drive back through the field after a lap 75 incident. Ontario driver Kris Martin made up ground in the late going to claim third. Ten caution periods slowed the action.
